With a great idea, wondrous things are simply bound to happen. This is also the case with the Green Initiative Challenge (GIC), which has included hundreds of schools in the 7-Forks area of Kenya in its program to raise awareness and promote environmental conservation. As a partnership between Better Globe Forestry, KenGen, and Bamburi Cement Ltd., this 10-year program was designed with the right goal in mind: to teach younger generations how to care for the environment. In February, an awards ceremony was held to honor the top four performing schools in Phase II of the GIC. During the award ceremony, the partners also announced the launch of GIC Phase IV, which brings on board 100 schools from different counties.
