Better Globe Forestry’s outgrowers program has changed livelihoods in many households, especially in Kamuwongo where the location has significantly changed from the start of the program. Residents of Kamwongo initially did not believe in agroforestry practices due to harsh climatic conditions, because of their mentality that trees are only meant for highlands. But today, 60 percent of farmer households in that location are enrolled in the outgrowers program, and the area no longer receives food relief because there is enough food. Although not all residents have embraced the program, the area Chief of Kamuwongo location is positive the program’s impact will gradually attract more locals to participate.
