In Kitui County, you will find 300 hectares of land known as Kiambere plantation. Kiambere has a gentle topography in a semi-arid climate, and is situated at the shores of Kiambere dam. Before the plantation was established, there were environmental concerns in the area such as soil erosion caused by human activity, like cultivation and charcoal burning. However, since the plantation has grown and thrived over the last decade, it has sequestered carbon, significantly reduced soil erosion, and retained enough water to mitigate the effects of drought; making it a great investment and use of resources.
